About Lily Feno

Lily Fenoglio McKinney, known as “Lily Feno,” is an American-born visual artist currently residing and painting in the mountains of Asheville, North Carolina. While Lily has been painting since childhood, it wasn't until 2023 that she committed to painting full-time. Her multi-media acrylic paintings have been acquired by private collectors and are frequently donated to philanthropic causes.
Her undergraduate studies at Indiana University, where she pursued both Anthropology and Studio Art, intertwine to create unexpected elements and drive her creative pursuits. Lily's exploration of materials, textures, and mark-making guides viewers through a visual journey, highlighting the differences in our shared human experience.

Our species shares the common thread of life on this Earth, yet the human experience is remarkably diverse. I am intrigued and inspired by the thought that each of us have a unique story to tell—a journey marked by distinct interactions, experiences, relationships, and traumas — yet we all share the experience of life. Our shared humanity does not homogenize our interpretations and responses to the world. Instead, the details and layers of my paintings resonate with the intricacies found within the rich tapestry of human experiences.

I create wall-sized paintings on canvas, utilizing a blend of acrylics, oil pigment sticks, graphite, and other mediums. These elements come together to form multi-layered visual expressions, delving into the connections between color, form, and texture.

My work is a testament to the celebration and appreciation of our diversity, coupled with the forging of connections within our shared existence. It serves as a reminder that, while bound by our common humanity, we must also cherish the diverse spectrum of human experiences and honor each unique interpretation and perspective. Through layers upon layers of paint, her art narrates the stories of our individual experiences, reactions, and the vast diversity encapsulated within the collective human journey.
